Michael Bay closes out his Cybertron tour of duty with Transformers 3, due in theatres Summer 2011. Details about the story have been kept on the down-low for quite some time, but apparently it's the best one yet according to the movie's leading man.
"This is, and I'm not just BS-ing you, it's the best movie we've made of the three by far," Shia LaBeouf told MTV News. Bay showed the actor 40 minutes of footage (and then set fire to the sky and filmed it), which left Sam Witwicky feeling confident about the pending final project.
"The script is the best script we've had," LaBeouf said, who is quick to say he wasn't impressed with what they did on Revenge of the Fallen.
"The second movie, we were in the middle of a writers' strike, writing on the go," he explained. "The first movie, we had the discovery, and [the third movie] really is the fruition of the rhythm we've created out of five years working together. I'm super proud of this movie."
And yes, this will be Sam Witwicky's last ride with the Autobots.
"There's no more for me, at least. I'm never going to do it again," he said definitively. "This is the last one, so it's balls-out. This is the best movie we've made, period, and that's a unanimous decision by everybody. The sizzle reel that [Bay] has been showing everybody on set, it's so outrageous. I'm very, very, very, very proud of it."
Now, on the heels of LaBeouf's praise for the Paramount film, an extra involved with the production is suing the studio due to a serious injury she suffered while on set.
Gabriela Cedillo, a 24-year-old extra, suffered severe head trauma during a stunt that went awry in September 2010. According to Deadline, the lawsuit alleges negligence that resulted in "serious injuries and brain damage."
In response to the lawsuit, Paramount issued this statement:
"We are all terribly sorry that this accident occurred. Our thoughts, prayers and best wishes are with Gabriela, her family and loved ones. The production will continue to provide all the help we can to Gabriela and her family during this difficult time."
If more extras keep having near-death experiences on Bay's set, then maybe this will be the last Transformers for both its leading man and director.
