Ign reports today that Viggo Mortensen...you know the guy that player Aragorn in that movie...what was the name....Lord of the godamn rings,has been cast in Snow White with the role of the huntsman.

I honestly wish this guy would catch a big break from hollywood,he has the 2 ton acting chops,why isnt he staring in more movies ?

After a long search that involved several other notable actors, Universal has cast Viggo Mortensen as the male lead in Snow White and the Huntsman.

Variety reports that the Lord of the Rings actor won the role of the Huntsman, who lets Snow White go after being sent on a mission to kill her. Previously reported contenders for the part included Johnny Depp, Michael Fassbender and Tom Hardy, all of whom are now lining up other films instead.

Snow White will reunite Mortensen with his co-star from The Road, Charlize Theron, who is in talks to play the evil queen. The studio is currently testing unknowns to play Snow White.

Rupert Sanders will direct from a screenplay by Evan Daugherty, based on the Brothers Grimm fairy tale. Snow White aims to begin filming this summer for a December 21, 2012 release.

The Snow White gig effectively confirms that Mortensen's now out of the running to play Roland Deschain in Universal's other high-profile project, The Dark Tower. It was reported earlier today that Javier Bardem has been offered the role.
