IGN reports today that GK films has purchased the rights to the tomb raider movie franchise and is preping a full reboot sometimes in 2013 .

It is curious because the game franchise is receiving the reboot treatment aswell this year from crystal dynamics,transforming it into a more gritty and realistic game.

I sincerely hope the movies will take that aproach aswell.

Reboots are becoming more and more popular lately. Last year, we learned that Crystal Dynamics is rebooting the Tomb Raider series of games with a new adventure that focuses on the origins of Lara Croft and her rise to fame as an archaeologist/slash adventurer.

It seems Hollywood will be following suit. Miss Croft has had one of the more successful transitions from games to film, with two previous movie adventures starring Angelina Jolie. Now GK Films has announced that they've acquired the rights to the franchise and aim to deliver a rebooted Tomb Raider film by 2013.
